It wasn’t the ultimate smooth sailing for the national team as it faced an abundance of obstacles throughout the tournament that left coach Cuper with only 19 available players on his list, instead of 23.
Although last night’s final against Cameroon had a sour ending, everyone seems to be supportive of the outstanding effort sported by the team and preferring a good look at the silver lining in anticipation of upcoming WorldCup qualifiers.
Here’s a list of what we feel this edition of AFCON has added…
1. Faith in our national team is restored
Thanks to the team’s fascinating efforts, after a six-year absence from the competition, and winning a well-deserved fair play prize last night.
2. Hadary’s comeback
We saw the 44 year-old return to glory as Egypt’s captain and make history as the oldest player to ever participate in the African tournament.
3. Brilliant goals
Although Egypt didn’t show interest in having the strongest attacking tactics and focused more on defence, we still saw 5 excellent goals throughout the six games from Mohamed Salah (who scored twice), Kahraba, Abdallah Said, and Mohamed Elneny.
4. The addictive “7elmena Wa7ed”
